First of all a huge shoutout to everyone that supported this developer reach their £10,000 goal in 30 days, it was touch and go for the last few days but they made it and now the development of this game can begin. If you’re not already aware I am a huge fan of this game and I have been playing it for a few months now, it is just a stage one demo at the moment but it will turn out to be something great.

For those of you who did not read my article on the game, I have copied it below

Okinawa Rush is a martial arts, platform game with RPG elements with lots of items/weapons to collect, a “parry-anything” engine and unique “FengShui” system. Now that is the devs description here is my description of the game…

An awesome 2d beat em up with tons of combos, blood and exploding enemies! The RPG side is there but it is very small, which is nice as you don’t have to grind to build up stats, so lets break down this game, and how can I do it if its not already out yet? Well by playing the demo of course!

The combat is the main aspect of the game, this is very fluid and the control response is perfect. The game also has a “parry-anything” system, and it works as it sounds you can parry anything, if you’re quick enough that is! If you’re really good not only can you parry shurikens flying towards you, you can actually kick them back to the enemy!

The artwork is stunning and looks very retro! Now beautiful as the game is where would any game be without a great soundtrack? NOWHERE, but once again Okinawa Rush delivers with a great custom soundtrack done by the developers themselves to fit within the theme of the game, in the past I have found myself always turning off music for fighting games and putting my own but not here!

I know I know, now you’re saying Indie Gaming Podcast where can I find this great game that you talk so highly of? Well I will tell you, you can find them right here on Kickstarter. So go over there, have a look at the game. But what if I need to see how this game plays before I try it ? Well I have you covered on all aspects, with links to the trailer, a couple of let’s play videos from me (yes i’m selfish). So this is where I stop telling you how great the game is, you go and try it for yourself then come back here and say thank you IGP for recommending this for me! Oh and while you’re at it check out my interview with the developer of this game, and all my other podcasts!
